Clinical Study of QTrobot
A digital therapeutic device for in-home assessment and therapy of children with autism
QTrobot is designed to support autism therapists and teaching assistants by providing education and social interactions through the medium of an AI driven robot.
Health Innovation North West Coast is supporting a clinical study in the North West which will test the efficacy of robot-administered interventions for developing cognitive, social and language skills and reducing autism severity in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). ASD is a developmental disorder that impacts communication and behaviour, affecting one in every 54 children. Children with ASD often have slower development in language, social, cognitive and communication skills due to challenges in social interaction, attention, sensory overstimulation, and dealing with changes to routines.
Developed in Luxembourg, QTrobot is an expressive and engaging humanoid robot designed for the purpose of assessment, therapy, and alleviation of symptoms of patients on the ASD. The QTrobot has already had an impact in the classroom at education centres in the North West where three robots have been deployed though a collaboration with Health Innovation North West Coast.
The robots have been adopted by the Together Trust, one of the North West’s leading disability charities that delivers education and other services for children and young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities, complex health needs and autism.
