Join Indro Mukerjee (CEO, Innovate UK) and Steve Rotheram (Metro Mayor, Liverpool City Region), plus other key IUK staff and LCR stakeholders, to review progress, celebrate successes, highlight challenges, and discuss forward priorities and key themes.
Signed in November last year, the partnership reflects the city region's highly developed approach to innovation and its world-leading capabilities. The agreement was accompanied by an action plan to work together in key areas including policy, data sharing, cluster development, business support, skills, equalities and international promotion.
The last 12 months has been game-changing for innovation in the city region with more than £7m of grants from Innovate UK's pilot Launchpad programme awarded to the city region's thriving Advanced Manufacturing sector and the announcement of the city region's new Health and Life Sciences Investment Zone. It has also seen the opening of Glass Futures - a global centre of excellence in St Helens aimed at decarbonising energy-intensive industries - and the signing of a landmark innovation agreement with South Korea's second city, Busan.
Starting at 09:00, the morning event will celebrate the year's successes, while exploring future initiatives and assessing key learnings as the city region strives towards its ambition of investing 5% of its economy in R&D by 2030 - nearly double the UK target.
The event will be followed by a buffet lunch and an opportunity to network with fellow innovators and policy makers.
