About
Urgent action has been taken in lots of settings over the past few years to transform health and care delivery and to scale up our systems by unleashing the power of digital technologies. This masterclass will enable us to learn more from some of the innovative solutions that have been developed and to explore how digital technologies have positively disrupted health and social care.

This masterclass will showcase the lessons learned from the rapid adoption of digital innovations through sharing case studies where technology has delivered on change for the future of health and care. Importantly the speakers will share the lessons learned from disrupting current health and care patterns to enable the rapid adoption of digital technologies that you can then explore further in your own workplace.

This event is for you if you want to learn more about how you can take part in the digital revolution and enhance good outcomes and facilitate progress. You may be tech friendly or a tech sceptic – no matter where you stand, this event will enable us to explore together a future that cannot be ignored.

About the speakers
Rachel Dunscombe, CEO, NHS Digital Academy, leads learning in Digital Health for England and Scotland. She is also a visiting Professor at Imperial College Medical School as well as Director of Digital for Salford Royal/NCA NHS Group. Dunscombe serves on the international advisory board of KLAS and is founding CHIME ambassador in the UK and chair of the HIMSS UK advisory board. She ranked #8 on CIO Magazine’s CIO 100 list in 2018 as well as Talent Unleashed’s most disruptive CIO in Europe 2016.


Michael Hanrahan, Telecare and Telehealth Manager, Wirral Health and Care Commisioning. After working in scientific research for 15 years, Michael has worked in a variety of health and care roles across the public sector since 2001. His focus has been on innovation, service re-design and delivering improved outcomes. He has worked in Wirral since 2018 with the brief to identify and deploy effective care technologies designed to transform service delivery, increase the ability for people to have more choice and control over their lives and reduce reliance on traditional care services. After introducing a successful Telehealth Service in Wirral, he is now managing the deployment of technology enabled care across the community care market, including the analogue to digital switch-over of Telecare.

Dr Simon Bowers, GP and Chief Medical Officer, Blinx Solutions. He has been a GP partner in South Liverpool since 2002. As Liverpool CCG’s Digital Lead he led the iLinks programme for 10 years supporting the creation of a single electronic patient record in the city. His other previous roles include Chair of Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group and Medical Director of the Liverpool Networks Alliance. He now works for a local technology SME developing products for the NHS.

We are an influential partnership, formed from cross sector organisations in the North West. We represent the NHS, health and social care and local government to bring you a range of collaborative masterclasses.

By combining our unique specialisms, the collaboration explores innovative thinking with expert speakers, to provide cross sector knowledge sharing for leaders across the North West.
