This event is a joint Maternity and Neonatal Learning System event on behalf of the North West Coast, Greater Manchester and East Cheshire Learning Systems as part of NHS Improvement’s support National Maternal and Neonatal Health Safety Collaborative.
Ten percent of babies will be born prematurely and the most common, severe and life-threatening complication is Cerebral Palsy. There is good evidence that treating mothers in labour with magnesium sulphate reduces Cerebral Palsy by thirty percent. Across the north west we are working collaboratively to ensure all eligible mothers receive this treatment.
We are asking for support from you and your organisation to get actively involved to help reduce avoidable harm at scale and pace and pioneer innovation and improvement in maternity services.
The Patient Safety Collaborative Maternity and Neonatal Learning System is supported by the Strategic Clinical Network, and the Operational Delivery Network and linked to both Local Maternity Systems.
