Innovation Agency Clinical Director Andrew Cooper is celebrating a quarter of a century working in the NHS in the North West.
After completing his nursing degree at the University of Liverpool, he started working with the NHS in a newly formed community Rapid Response Team, which involved transporting people from A&E and providing urgent health and social care at home. He worked as a District Nurse in Wirral and progressed into training, development and service management roles.
The next move took him into primary care commissioning with NHS Wirral PCT, which led to him leading the development of one of three commissioning consortia in Wirral. Further NHS changes saw the creation of NHS Wirral CCG where he held a number of roles, latterly becoming Associate Director of Commissioning.
Andrew joined the Innovation Agency in 2017 as Associate Director for Patient Safety, responsible for delivering National Patient Safety Improvement Programmes in Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and South Cumbria. He became Clinical Director two years ago.
“My most enjoyable roles have been when I’ve worked directly with patients or have been involved in improving patient care in some way; this is why I joined the Innovation Agency, as our work impacts directly on the quality of care received by the patient population we serve.”
Innovation Agency Chief Executive Dr Phil Jennings presented Andrew with a certificate to mark his 25 years’ NHS service.
