We and our partner health innovation networks are well placed to support the drive for a net zero NHS.
We work with a wide network of organisations in the health and care system, in academia and in industry, which we can support with our expertise and experience.
The Health Innovation Network maintains a sustainability community of interest which shares best practice and explores innovative approaches to tackling shared challenges.
Locally, we work with health and care organisations to see how innovations can help them reduce their carbon footprint.
Each health innovation network also holds itself accountable to delivering the net zero agenda. Locally, we:
- continue to calculate our carbon footprint
- are developing a carbon reduction plan
- work with local groups, both inside and outside the NHS system, to put together bids for net zero/climate action calls
- continue to train our staff on the basics of net zero to apply to their daily work
- provide advice and resource to businesses via the Excel into Health programme.
